Meet Connor Warnken

What does your role at Powerwrap entail?

My role predominantly involves the daily reconciliation of the cash allocations in our clearing account and clients’ ANZ accounts. Aside from that I also process closures, international payments and various cash related queries.

What you enjoy most about being Client Services & Payments Officer?

I enjoy solving complex problems and creating efficiencies within processes, also taking into consideration the root cause. It has been quite advantageous given it is a central function of the teams internally and externally, thus allowing me to gain exposure to the downstream effects and insight into various areas in potentially an unconventional manner. I also recognize that positive client experience is a focus and like to examine client impact and communication.  Fortunately I have also had exposure to projects and other departments such as the Off-Platforms and Corporate Actions teams, assisting with tasks such as our FY20 tax processing and other ad-hoc duties.

If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play you?

Very interesting question – I’m not sure, what about George Clooney?

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Unfortunately you will never find me behind the karaoke microphone.

What do you like most about Powerwrap?

I believe the culture is the best feature. There is a lot of emphasis on innovation and creating efficiencies within procedures to accommodate our clients by streamlining processes. A favorable aspect is the amount of experience and expertise of which is imparted to myself and those around. The cross-functional teams have taught me to be proactive and resourceful in the nature of solutions implemented. I can definitely vouch that as someone relatively new to the industry I could not have asked for better guidance from my leaders and colleagues.

Have you taken up any COVID-19 quarantine hobbies?

A hobby taken up was running, my friends and I track our runs and compete. It can be challenging on most days as we push towards better times or longer distances to help break up a day and recharge cognitively whilst achieving a healthy level of activity away from the desk.

If you could leave on a holiday tomorrow, where would you go?

Many places spring to mind, however recently I’ve had my eye on New Zealand (either for the scenes or the lack of COVID).

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Pasta, no doubt.

Where is your favourite place in the world?

If it can’t be my bed getting a full 8 hours of sleep. It would most likely be Hoi An, a Vietnamese city. (..)

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose?

Why not go the full Mike Tyson and get a tiger!
