Alternative Assets

In these uncertain times, advisers and wealth are focused on actively managing their clients’ investment portfolios to minimise losses.

One asset class rising through the ranks due to its low correlation to the now volatile equity markets and strong performance is alternative assets.

According to data from Morningstar Direct, in March this year 7 out of the top ten performing funds were alternatives.

The Future Fund, with its high exposure to alternatives (close to a third), is also doing better than most. It recorded a decline of just 3.4% in the March quarter, compared to the S&P/ASX200 and S&P500’s results of negative 23.1% and negative 19.7% respectively.

Alternative assets typically do not appear on platform approved products lists because they can be extremely complicated to administer and report on as part of a consolidated investment portfolio.

Private Wealth Account

This account is the perfect product for advisers and brokers to use with high net worth clients. Powerwrap calculates and deducts administration fees from the Adviser’s ongoing service fees which enables them to set the total ongoing cost to client as a single consolidated fee covering advice and administration.

In addition to managed funds, Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), ASX and international listed securities and term deposits, an extended range of assets such as wholesale (IM based) managed funds, alternative assets, bonds and cash may also be available for investment.

With full-service administration, detailed online reporting, real-time transaction processing and a range of tax optimisation options, the Private Wealth Account is the account of choice for high net worth clients including SMSF Trustees.
