Alternative Assets

In these uncertain times, advisers and wealth are focused on actively managing their clients’ investment portfolios to minimise losses.

One asset class rising through the ranks due to its low correlation to the now volatile equity markets and strong performance is alternative assets.

According to data from Morningstar Direct, in March this year 7 out of the top ten performing funds were alternatives.

The Future Fund, with its high exposure to alternatives (close to a third), is also doing better than most. It recorded a decline of just 3.4% in the March quarter, compared to the S&P/ASX200 and S&P500’s results of negative 23.1% and negative 19.7% respectively.

Alternative assets typically do not appear on platform approved products lists because they can be extremely complicated to administer and report on as part of a consolidated investment portfolio.

To enhance our offerings, we’ve announced our strategic partnership with a new US based alternative investment platform provider, Qualis Capital. Read more about that here.

But for Powerwrap, that’s what we do best. Powerwrap are the experts in the Australian platform market when it comes to the administration of alternative assets.

Powerwrap’s suite provides a huge array of products and tools which will enable advisers or brokers to more effectively manage their client’s wealth, whether in super, pension or investment phase.

Powerwrap’s services are offered under our Smartwrap and Private Wealth brands to suit different ways of operating. White-label versions of these may be available to selected groups.

Investment Account

The Powerwrap Investment Account is a registered Managed Investment Scheme which provides access to a comprehensive range of managed funds, Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), ASX and international listed equities and term deposits, all within a single consolidated account.

With full-service administration and reporting, real-time transaction processing and a range of tax optimisation options, the Investment Account is suitable for all retail investors including Self-Managed Super Fund Trustees.

Private Wealth Account

This account is the perfect product for advisers and brokers to use with high net worth clients. Powerwrap calculates and deducts administration fees from the Adviser’s ongoing service fees which enables them to set the total ongoing cost to client as a single consolidated fee covering advice and administration.

In addition to managed funds, Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), ASX and international listed securities and term deposits, an extended range of assets such as wholesale (IM based) managed funds, alternative assets, bonds and cash may also be available for investment.

With full-service administration, detailed online reporting, real-time transaction processing and a range of tax optimisation options, the Private Wealth Account is the account of choice for high net worth clients including SMSF Trustees.

Adviser Shared Services

The number of wealth management professionals and advisers seeking the freedom and autonomy of running their own wealth management practices, or joining boutique firms, is on the rise. Ensuring the right partnerships are in place to take that first step is critical.

Powerwrap has a unique heritage in helping groups branch out on their own. Powerwrap can provide a complete turnkey shared service solution for advisers and wealth management professionals.

Our Shared Service offering can include premises, licensing, software, research, compliance and finance. Advisers/brokers are free to focus on the key elements of running their practice, while leaving the rest to us. Powerwrap’s Shared Service offering is flexible and can suit any budget and business model.
